Job Title: Senior Maintenance Technician/Machinist (High Pressure Specialist)
Grade: SA91 Grade 9, Days 07:30 until 16:30 Monday to Friday, working a nine day fortnight on a rota

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be part of a small team of senior mechanical technicians, primarily, responsible for critical spare refurbishments associated to the Hyper-compressor and other high-pressure equipment, whilst also supporting the SABIC operational areas, with other machine based activities. This position will aid delivery of safe, efficient and high quality maintenance activities.
This position will require a sound level of technical competency in reading and interpreting engineering documentation, Technical & Quality instructions and Engineering drawings. A time served fitter/ turner is desirable who has the willingness to enhance their current skill set.
A bias to machining would be advantageous, however, the successful candidate will display the passion to develop into a hybrid maintenance technician/machinist capable of supporting all high-pressure maintenance activities including component overhaul and repair, in both site based and workshop environments.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of activities, including but not limited to:
* Take lead of machining activities within workshop – focal point for all technical aspects of the in house machining activities – refurbishment, manufacture of critical components and tooling. Assisting technical engineers in future design changes on high-pressure components/equipment.
* The delivery of high quality refurbishment activities within the LDPE refurbishment workshop facility to meet the operational and risk reduction needs of LDPE plant and wider Teesside assets.
* Comply with the integrity, compliance guidelines and champion SABIC EHSS standards and values to promote a safe working environment for all.
* Work collaboratively with the Total Maintenance Contract community delivering high quality maintenance activities which aid the continuous operation of our Teesside assets.
* Act as the custodian of technical and engineering standards and support delivery where specialist knowledge and capability is required.
* Support reactive breakdown recovery and out of hours working, either as team lead, technical lead or delivery technician supporting the repairs.
* Maintain stringent maintenance records for all work being undertaken. All work delivery is carried out to the specific specification ensuring all key parameters are accurately recorded in quality documentation at all times.
* Competently operate the sites CMMS (SAP) in the delivery of the activities they are responsible for; Identify and order materials, create and complete SAP tasks, own individual workload progress autonomously.
* Be a qualified Work Control Permit Acceptor and ‘Task Owner’ to facilitate work delivery under their control. Complete all associated activities with regards to task ownership - specification review, risk assessment, stage checks, documentation reviews, vendor coordination etc.
* Complete all training and validation specified for job role in order to optimize full capability and potential. Specialist training will include, high-pressure jointing, machinery specific training, high-pressure valve training and develop machining background to incorporate the proficient use of CNC machines (e.g. XYZ- lathe, milling machines).
Desirable Characteristics:
The successful candidate will possess or be willing to obtain the following attributes:
* Highly skilled CNC Machinist capable of working to fine tolerances.
* Self-sufficient, reliable who will take ownership and for all machine shop activities and equipment lifecycle management.
* Knowledge of large rotating & static machinery
* Understand aspects of mechanical engineering measuring techniques to very high tolerances (0.002mm).
* Demonstrate a proactive attitude to work and an ability to learn and share technical knowledge. Ability to propose changes to working practices, facilities and procedures to improve the safety, quality and cost of maintenance delivery.
Qualification/Requirements:
* Qualified trade (Fitter/ Turner) time served (Minimum NVQ L3 or equivalent/ HNC desirable) with experience in a maintenance work delivery role within the petrochemical industry.
* Ability to operate within a small team, work collaboratively and flexibly in support of business critical asset (breakdown/outages).
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build positive relationships with others.
* Have or are willing to gain relevant competency, skills, licenses and approvals to fulfil all of the role accountabilities.
