Role
The Trainee Estimator forms part of the commercial team responsible for costing projects, tendering and subsequent delivery. This role is positioned under the wing of a Senior Estimator who will provide training and support, and reporting to the Commercial Manager who provides leadership for the full commercial function and responsibility for work winning and delivery strategies.
Day to day this job involves utilisation of measurement software and I.T. programmes for the review and measurement of building design, in order to build cost plans and feed into project programmes. The position is office based, flexible hours, within a friendly and supportive business environment.
With a strong demand throughout the industry for experienced Estimators within construction, this is a career path that can be rewarding and lucrative, and suits those who don't wish to be regularly on-site.
Experience Required
Estimating positions require intelligent, diligent, analytical thinkers who have a good grasp of technical construction details. This position is set up to develop a Trainee into an experienced Estimating professional.
It is essential to be on the path towards this type of career already and applicants should be studying or have recently completed a basic qualification within construction or ideally, be on the route towards quantity surveying.
Applicants must demonstrate:
* Excellent skills with numbers
* Be diligent, analytical, good attention to detail
* An interest in quantity surveying but preference for office working with less site visits
* Good ability to communicate with colleagues internally
Location in and around the Stockton area and a full driving licence is advantageous.
Remuneration
* A degree apprenticeship and full training plan is on offer. The company will pay a competitive salary (circa £22,000 to £24,000 per annum).
