Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Rota basis as the homes require – this will involve alternative weekend working
Shifts: 15 hours per shift (7am – 10pm)
Salary: £32,000 per year (based on 3 shifts per week + 2 sleep ins)
Your Role and Responsibilities as a Support Worker:
1. To ensure that our child/young person is valued, able to explore personal development and can communicate their needs, choices, and aspirations.
2. To be responsible for the physical care, safety, health & wellbeing of our children/young people. This will involve supporting the service user with personal care, as detailed in the care plan/risk assessment.
3. To support children/young people fully with their life choices, including activities in the community, this will involve sports, swimming, walking, independent living, and a range of activities that will consist of physical participation.
4. To provide individual advocate support as necessary, promoting and empowering the child/young person’s choice, inclusion, and decision-making.
5. To always promote and respect the privacy and dignity of the child/young person.
6. To maintain confidentiality and respect the views of the child/young person.
7. To liaise with other agencies, parents, and carers, supporting the child/young person to advocate their views, at their request, using communication methods that encourage the independence of the child/young person.
8. Codes of confidentiality cannot be promised if the risk to a child/young person is evident and safeguarding procedures are instigated.
9. To work as a team member providing needs project and community activities that are recreational, vocational, educational, and person-centered.
10. To project a positive image of people with learning difficulties, challenging behaviours, or other disabilities.
11. To promote equality and diversity, equal opportunities and respect cultures and values.
12. To attend staff team planning meetings monthly and provide an adequate handover at the end/beginning of shift.
13. To complete risk assessments, daily logs, accident & incident reports, medication forms, audits, daily weekly checklist to a detailed high standard.
14. To attend child/young person reviews as and when required.
15. To attend and participate in staff training.
16. To assist and ensure effective administrative, financial, and record systems are maintained.
17. To adhere to vehicle checks and transport duties as and when required, reporting defects with immediate effect.
18. To adhere to hygiene procedures, including cooking and cleaning to maintain safety.
19. Notification of any needs, problems, or defects. All staff are accountable and responsible for the health & safety of the child/young person, equipment, buildings, vehicles, and the reporting of incidents that may lead to a potential risk. Preventative measures are proactively encouraged.
20. To ensure all Consistent Quality Support policies and procedures are understood and complied with; a 6-monthly refresher is encouraged.
21. To adhere to the staff handbook and changes in respect of Human Resources policies.
