We have a great opportunity for an experienced Multi Skilled Operative to join our growing team on a full-time permanent basis. Role Criteria: This role involves performing high-standard multi-trade repairs and refurbishment activities on housing properties, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional customer service while adhering to safety, quality, and cost control standards. The primary trade skill required is joinery, but the role also demands proficiency in additional trades to ensure timely and high-quality completion of repair and refurbishment tasks. The job requires taking ownership of construction, fault finding, and maintenance repairs, aiming for first-time completion within budget and time constraints. A professional demeanor is essential in all interactions with service users, clients, and stakeholders, including maintaining a neat appearance, proper identification, and vehicle condition, as well as adhering to Health & Safety standards. Tasks are managed electronically using a handheld device (PDA) for processing worksheets, timesheets, photographic evidence, van stock replenishment, booking leave, vehicle inspections, safeguarding issues, risk assessments, and method statements. The role also involves keeping company assets in good condition and reporting any damages, as well as managing materials in accordance with standard operating procedures for purchasing and van stock control. All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. Key Criteria: Joinery Qualification NVQ Level 2: This certification demonstrates a solid foundation in joinery, ensuring that the candidate has the necessary technical skills and knowledge to perform high-quality joinery work. Core Skills in Joinery with Experience in Glazing and Other Trades: The role requires a strong background in joinery, ideally supplemented by experience in glazing and other related trades. This versatility allows for a comprehensive approach to repair and refurbishment tasks. UPVC Window and Door Repairs: Proficiency in repairing UPVC windows and doors is essential, as these are common elements in housing properties. This skill ensures that the candidate can handle a variety of repair scenarios involving these materials. Locksmith Experience: Experience in locksmithing is important for addressing security-related repairs and installations. This includes tasks such as fixing or replacing locks, which are crucial for maintaining the safety and security of housing properties. IT Literacy: The role involves using electronic devices, such as a handheld PDA, to manage tasks, process worksheets, timesheets, and other documentation. Being IT literate ensures that the candidate can efficiently use these tools to complete their work. Good Communication Skills: Effective communication is key to providing excellent customer service and working collaboratively with clients, service users, and other stakeholders. This includes both verbal and written communication skills. Experience in Social Housing Repair Work: Familiarity with the specific challenges and requirements of social housing repair work is highly desirable. This experience helps in understanding the needs of the residents and the standards expected in this sector. Full UK Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is necessary for traveling to various job sites and transporting tools and materials. This ensures that the candidate can perform their duties across different locations as required.
