We are looking for a paid intern to join our team for the period of 1 year. This role provides laboratory support to visiting health care professionals (HCPs) and Smith+Nephew colleagues attending surgical training our pioneering training centre in Watford. This position is responsible for set up/ clear up, troubleshooting assistance and maintaining adequate stock levels to allow our sessions to run smoothly.
Additionally, technicians will assist with inventory management systems to order and maintain stock, document management systems and coordinating with colleagues across our education, sales and events divisions. The role works closely with out medical education teams to ensure our customers are set up for success when using our products.
What will you be doing?
1. Assist in the delivery of surgical training sessions by setting up lab spaces, instruments and equipment as well as packing down and washing of the lab after sessions. The role provides support during the training of Sales Reps, Marketing staff, Research and Development staff and senior hires.
2. Maintenance of the laboratory, including; specimen, specialist and general instruments - Organising repairs and replacements of specialist instruments; ensuring general laboratory housekeeping, including regular deep cleans.
3. Ensuring optimum specimen (human cadaveric tissue) usage by harvesting parts wherever possible and ensuring traceability for further processing.
4. Assisting senior technicians with handling human tissue specimens in compliance with local guidance and the local governing bodies. Ensure cadaveric material is acquired, stored, used and disposed of in accordance with the HTA codes of practice.
What will you need to be successful?
5. We provide full training and as such, this role is suitable for either a recent graduate or school leaver looking to start their career in a global medical devices company.
6. This role works (under supervision) with human cadaveric tissue - it's important you are comfortable working in this environment.
7. The role is based Monday-Friday in our laboratory in Croxley, Watford.
8. This role will commence asap - it's essential that you can start with us in Spring 2025.
Location: S+N Head Office in Croxley, Watford /Hours: Monday-Friday - 37 hours per week. There is occasional Saturday working (approx once per month).
