Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police Transport Department are seeking skilled highly motivated Vehicle Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles. The Vehicle Technician should have a strong mechanical knowledge and excellent customer service skills to ensure internal customer satisfaction. The staff, officers and volunteers of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are here so that the people we serve, their families and our communities are safer. To deliver our quality public service, it is vital we can call upon our dynamic Police Fleet.
The successful applicant must be able to work under pressure and unsupervised on a variety of cars and vans, including vehicles fitted with police equipment. You must be capable of carrying out the repair process, from fault finding right through to completion, and all vehicle repairs and maintenance to our police fleet should be carried out to a high standard.
We currently have a vacancy at our Basingstoke workshop, where your vehicle maintenance and repair skills will be used to ensure the fleet is kept fully operational. You will be required to work on a variety of fleet vehicles, which includes high performance cars for teams such as roads policing and armed response, and vans for public order operations which may be used across the UK for mutual aid operations. As well as undertaking servicing and repairs and vehicle road tests, you will be required to carry out basic vehicle fits to ensure they are ready for police use.
