Speciality Doctor Paediatric and Neonates
We are looking for a permanent Specialty Paediatrician. The posts provide excellent experience in General Paediatrics and Neonates. We are extremely keen to help develop the successful candidates’ career. We have been very successful in supporting doctors onto the Deanery paediatric training scheme and also providing opportunities to gain admission to the specialty register through the CESR process. These posts are suitable for doctors with at least two years post-graduate experience in paediatrics, including experience in neonatal intensive care.
The appointee will form part of the Middle Tier Rota (pro rata) alongside other specialty doctors and paediatric trainees from the North West Deanery.
Previous experience at second on call tier level would be useful but is not essential. We will provide on-call support for the successful candidate if this is their first middle grade experience.
We are seeking an enthusiastic middle grade doctor to join our expanding team of paediatricians. The role will cover all aspects of acute inpatient care of children & neonates, attending deliveries of sick term & preterm infants on delivery suite and seeing unwell patients in the Emergency Department and resus when required. The role also involves providing medicals for S47 assessments, with direct consultant supervision.
Candidates have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics and take part in audit/research activities. They will be encouraged and supported to develop an area of interest. We provide experience in medical education with one middle grade doctor being trained as an educational supervisor with their own trainee. We encourage management & clinical governance experience with opportunities of developing leadership within these areas.
The rota is being expanded with standard days, long days & nights.
There is a 10 person tier one (junior doctor) full shift rota, providing dedicated ward and NICU cover 0900 - 2400 Mon to Fri and 0900-2130 at weekends. There is cross-cover overnight.
Consultant cover is provided by a “hotweek” system for the ward and NICU. Out of hours consultant support is provided through a robust on call system and consultants are resident at peak times during the Winter.
We have a strong track record in supporting doctors to successfully access “run through” training and to gain entry onto the specialist register via the Article 14 route.
