Job Purpose:
The role of a Lecturer in Electrical, Renewable Energy, and Power Engineering at the Centre for Infrastructure, Skills and Technology (CIST) is to deliver high-quality theoretical and practical instruction in line with current industry standards, including Electrical and MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) regulations. The successful candidate will organise and conduct classroom-based sessions covering key topics such as electrical installations, renewable energy technologies, power engineering principles, and specialised training areas such as Overhead Linesperson and Low Voltage Jointing.
In addition to classroom-based theory, the lecturer will lead practical, hands-on training in both workshop and outdoor environments, including real-world simulation areas for overhead line work, power generation, and renewable energy system installations. This comprehensive approach will equip learners with the skills required to meet the growing demands of the infrastructure and energy sectors.
The role also includes assessing learners' work, both in classroom settings and through on-site assessments at workplaces, ensuring students demonstrate competency in real-world applications. Close collaboration with Awarding Organisations is essential to maintain the high quality of learner outcomes, ensuring all assessments meet industry standards.
Furthermore, the lecturer will actively stay abreast of advancements in electrical, renewable energy, and power engineering, incorporating new developments into their teaching to ensure learners are prepared for the evolving challenges and opportunities in the sector, particularly in sustainable and energy-efficient practices.
