The Role We have an excellent opportunity for a Director to lead the Business Performance function at Ofwat, working at the forefront of the development and delivery of our strategy, alongside integrated business planning and effective governance. You will play a key role in improving how Ofwat operates and delivers its mission, supporting its resilience and enabling it to adapt with agility. The role will sit within the Office of the Chief Executive, working closely and directly with the Chief Executive and all the cross-cutting teams in the Directorate, including Legal, PMO and Communications. These teams are connectors and enablers across the organisation, ensuring Ofwat meets its strategic objectives, and that we operate with integrity, efficiency and can demonstrate our accountability. Some of the Key Deliverables include: Overall delivery of Ofwat's strategy and strong business performance Develop and drive an integrated plan for delivery of Ofwat's strategy across 2025-30, prioritising effectively based on strategic needs and ensuring alignment with resource availability. Portfolio Management and Executive Office: Through your leadership of the Portfolio Management Office, develop the most appropriate portfolio management model for Ofwat and the capability of the programme and project management teams, facilitating the effective allocation of programme and project management resources across Ofwat, and continuously improving the service provided. About You Below are some of the key essential experience, skills & knowledge required for this post: Proven experience of designing and implementing strategic plans, governance frameworks and driving portfolio delivery in a high-profile organisation (Lead criterion). Significant leadership experience, preferably of multi-function / multi profession teams, developing high-performance teams, and leading through ambiguity and change (Lead criterion) Proven ability to translate strategy into action with a proactive, results-oriented approach and a focus on continuous improvement with innovative and creative solutions (Lead criterion) Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and to develop and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues, senior leaders and external partners, to achieve the best results for the portfolio of work Ofwat has to deliver. Proven experience of working at pace and to tight deadlines, re-prioritising resources, whilst working with a high degree of autonomy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, articulate and present complex issues to a variety of audiences clearly and concisely. Highly organised, motivated and adaptable, with the ability to see the bigger picture as well as attention to detail.
