The Role of Government Affairs Associate To assist delivery of our public policy and to work closely with Government Affairs Manager to engage external and internal stakeholders on policy issues of relevance to the organisation. A key part of the role will be to work closely with some of our most senior members to develop clear and coherent arguments, statistics and data with the aim of enhancing our reputation as trusted partner in public policy discussions. You will also be closely involved in our work to maintain its reputation and public trust via the maintenance of high professional standards among its members, and by liaising with relevant government departments. Main Duties & Responsibilities Consultations Responsible for coordinating and submitting consultation responses. This includes drafting a briefing note, setting up the committee, planning interim deadlines, scheduling conference calls, circulating drafts, proof-reading and writing sections of the response. Submitting the response, sharing it with the editorial team, uploading it to the consultation tracker and posting an update on our Policy News page. Uploading the response to the Consultation Tracker, which allows members and other interested parties to see which responses are currently being worked on and how we have responded to previous consultations. Policy Support the maintenance of the policy area of our website with pertinent links, consultation responses and other policy-related matters. Support the Government Affairs Manager in the work of our Committees. Assist with the preparation of articles, research reports, speeches, guidance notes, media and policy briefings. Stakeholder & External Liaison Attend a range of regular UK stakeholder groups Attend events and meetings as required to support the Policy Team. This may include occasional travel, including but not limited to Brussels. Committees Attend the UK Technical and Public Policy committees with responsibility for arranging sub-committee meetings and drafting consultation responses Lead the coordination of our Global Representative Power thought leadership meetings with supporting notes. Communication Represent the Policy Team at the weekly Web Editorial Meeting. Assist with preparing policy updates in the twice weekly eNews service. Assist in preparing various policy communications for our members. Support the preparation and formatting of surveys, newsletters and other policy communications. Monitoring Monitor the policy team inbox. Monitor relevant policy and legislative developments globally.
