What skills and experience we're looking for
As the School Business Manager, you will play a key role in the efficient and effective management of the school’s business and operational functions. You will work closely with the headteacher, staff, governors, and external partners to ensure the school runs smoothly and continues to offer the best possible experience for our children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the financial management of the school, including budget planning, monitoring, and reporting.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, including HR, facilities, and health and safety.
• Liaise with the headteacher and governors to support school strategy and operational decisions.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, financial, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead on procurement, including managing contracts and suppliers.
• Support with fundraising and income generation where appropriate.
• Supervise and manage a small administrative team, fostering a positive working environment.
• Work closely with the headteacher to support school improvement planning and resource allocation.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Proven experience in school business management or a similar role.
• Strong financial and budgeting skills, with the ability to manage resources efficiently.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Experience in managing HR, facilities, and compliance issues.
• A passion for supporting children’s education and the ethos of a small, close-knit school.
• Knowledge of school funding and financial regulations.
• A positive and friendly attitude, able to build good relationships with staff, parents, and the wider community.
