Cloud Services underpin all aspects of West Midlands Police today, we operate a technically hybrid estate, and our services running under AWS (Amazon Web Services) are critical to allowing our officers and staff to perform their roles in this vital mission. The Cloud Services Team Manager (AWS) will lead a technically diverse team of experts around a number of key technology areas, such as Data, Applications and Infrastructure. You will support mission critical policing systems, and enjoy working with native cloud technologies. We have an ambitious technology strategy, Synergy – focused around creating amazing user experiences for our officers, staff and the public we serve. Key Responsible areas; Ensure that our data, in terms of ETL processes and platforms is available to the organisation. Ensure that Core Policing Applications on AWS cloud are available and operational. Ensuring the security, integrity, availability and performance of cloud infrastructure in live operational use. Ensuring that Cloud Services are operating to agreed service levels with the organisation. Ensure that Cloud Infrastructure (Compute, Network and Storage) is managed pro-actively with regards to capacity and performance load. Ensure that SaaS, PaaS and IaaS management is proportionate to the value of the service. Leading on live cloud service adoption and change (i.e new releases) via change and release management. Supporting other technical teams in migrating services to Cloud. Participate in IT & Digital governance boards to ensure the strategic direction of cloud technology is aligned against standards. Liaison with suppliers and 3 rd parties regarding fault escalation and resolution. To be accountable for contracts within Cloud Services, including contract and supplier reviews against key performance indicators. Leading, mentoring and developing a team of dedicated cloud technical specialists. Ensure that budgets allocated to Cloud Services are pro-actively planned/monitored in relation to spend. Ensuring that Backup and Disaster Recovery Processes for systems are maintained and operational. Who we are looking for A leader who can inspire, coach and manage a technical support team. Somebody who has technical capability and understanding across cloud technologies. You must be passionate about excellent service operation and a proactive mind-set to operate in an innovative department. You will also hold supplier relationship management skills and contract/budget review capability. The ability to translate technical issues to non-technical personnel is also an essential skill within this role.
