Job summary We are recruiting Apprentice Healthcare Support Workers within the following departments - Main out-patients, Ludlow Ward, Spinal Injuries Wards. The apprenticeship is for a fixed-term contract period of 2 years, during which time the postholder will be supported to achieve Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker qualification. Applicants must meet the entry-level qualifications for health and social care, which are Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) Level 2 (eg at least one GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 functional skills or a Level 2 healthcare support worker apprenticeship In order to satisfy the course requirements applicants should possess Level 1 English and Maths, and achieve Level 2 English and Maths and the Care Certificate prior to completion of the apprenticeship. Attainment of the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker will require 20% off the job learning, which involves both classroom and distance learning participation. The duration of the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker course is 18 months, after which there will be 6 months of consolidation of learning until the end of the contract. The Trust is committed to supporting Level 3 apprentices to apply for a permanent Higher Healthcare Support Worker (Band 3) roles at the end of their fixed term contract and course. Main duties of the job The Higher Healthcare Assistant Apprentice will undertake a range of duties, including: Provides person centred care and support, undertaking personal care duties. Undertakes personal care duties, e.g. bathing, toileting, dressing, support with meals and assisting patients with their appearance. Records patient information. Develops, manages and maintains positive, appropriate relationships with service users, families and carers, demonstrating respect, kindness, compassion and empathy at all times. Acts appropriately in emergency circumstances, including immediate first aid.
