Working in partnership with TNOs and DNOs, we plan, design, and deliver new customer connections as well as network reinforcements to ensure the infrastructure is ready for green investment and new technologies.
What Will You Do:
1. Produce a comprehensive suite of design drawings for Grid and Primary substations.
2. Prepare technical specifications for Electrical plant and provide associated electrical designs for substation upgrades and new substation projects from 11kV up to and including 132kV.
3. Produce substation design feasibility reports, cost estimates, layouts, GAs, and prepare plant specifications that include transformers, switchgear, and battery systems.
4. Review designs produced by suppliers and clients to ensure compliance with current legislation and policies.
5. Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client.
6. Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed HV and EHV projects.
7. Identify and manage relevant Health and Safety risks and hazards.
8. Attend site meetings to support any design or requirement changes during project build.
9. Ensure project design works are aligned with programme, quality, and margin.
10. Develop external and internal client relationships.
11. Experience of HV and EHV Plant specification, design, load calculations, and rating studies.
12. Prepare specifications for HV and EHV substation equipment.
We'd Love To Hear From You If You Have:
1. Minimum qualification: HNC Electrical Engineering.
2. Exposure to substation cable design and protection and control.
3. Experience of small, medium, and technically complex new substation, retrofit, or network reinforcement projects.
4. Proven experience in HV and EHV substation design (both AIS & GIS), from 11kV up to and including 132kV.
5. Knowledge of engineering standards and technical policies for HV and EHV plant, substations (including earthing and electrical clearances).
6. Ability to interpret technical documentation relating to the design of electrical substations.
7. Design cost estimation experience.
8. Excellent understanding of H&S and CDM requirements.
9. Ability to travel as per project needs.
