Closing Date – Applications close 4 th December at 5pm A bank with a little more heart We’re looking for a Senior System Engineer to join our Core Banking Team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc. This role will be focused on joining a team of system engineers to automate the building, maintenance, operation and support a range of systems on cloud infrastructure withing AWS, that encompass most of our core banking applications. As a Senior System Engineer, you will work closely with the other senior engineers in the team to drive through service improvements, features and changes. You will work closely with junior engineers to help mentor and build their careers, while also influencing and working closely with engineering leads and principal engineers on our long-term technology goals Alongside being a pivotal part of a team supporting key banking applications, you will be a key part in both devising and implementing complex solutions while also acting as a subject matter expect within the wider platform team Our engineering culture is part of what makes us a great place to work, and we encourage all our engineers to share new ideas, challenge existing practices and always be looking for out for opportunities to improve their teams and our wider engineering community. What you’ll be doing Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to provide an exceptional level of service Manage and improve the services we provide using the tools available to move the team closer to reaching out wider long term technology goals. Balance managing service with ensuring the team meets its compliance requirements. We need you to have Experience with cloud based technologies, including AWS (Must). We are using AWS exclusively for now, a good knowledge of building and running at scale within EC2, RDS and beyond is ideal Hands on experience with deploying infrastructure as code, and automation. We currently use Jenkins as our pipeline tool. Experience working with vendors and stakeholders to provide a high level of service and service improvements. And if you have any of these, even better Experience with containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes. Knowledge of Agile practices and ceremonies.
