About the role…
Working with a team of expert Arborists, you will be involved in the delivery of vegetation management for our client. The role will involve clearance of vegetation to maintain a safety clearance from the overhead powerlines in accordance with safe working practices and as training, certifications, and authorisations permit. There will also be a focus on customer care, dealing with the general public and their agents.
This is a full-time permanent role operating out of our offices in Oswestry whilst supporting on-site activities across the SPEN Network. There will be additional travel required to our clients’ operational sites and offices across the Northwest area.
What will your day look like…
* Undertaking practical Arboriculture tasks contributing to an efficient combined voltage programme of tree clearance, within prescribed timescales.
* Climbing, pruning and site tidy up in line with BS3998 2010 and completion of data records.
* Adhering to all relevant legislation pertaining to tree management in relation to power line clearance, including Tree Preservation Orders, Conservation Area restrictions and European Protected Species.
* Landowner management including adhering to the agreed access and egress routes, work prescriptions as detailed on the work pack and maintaining good communication with landowners when on the work site.
About you…
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a good level of physical fitness and is confident and capable whilst working at heights. You will hold a valid driving licence for working in different locations and transporting equipment (category BE is desirable). You will have the ability to read maps and have experience working within Arboriculture and Forestry. You will be able to demonstrate experience of a range of common industry-related tasks and you will be familiar with different forms of machinery associated with modern Arboriculture. Good time management is essential for this role.
Preferably, you will be trained in First Aid and hold UA 1,2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 and CS 30,31,38,39 or equivalent.

About us…
Mobilisation activities are now in progress after Avove has been awarded a groundbreaking new long-term contract by Scottish Power Energy Networks. We are delighted to announce that framework contracts for all Vegetation Management activities across the five SPEN network areas of Dee Valley & Oswestry, Mid Wales, Wirral, Mersey, Cheshire and the Edinburgh & Borders area in Scotland have all been awarded to Avove.
The contract has now doubled in size to be c.£10m pa and is for a full six-year period, enabling a significant recruitment programme to be implemented with effective long-term planning and investment in both staff and equipment.
