Equans is looking for 2 Plumbers to join our team in Blackburn on a permanent basis for our Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, and motivated Plumber/Heating Engineer for maintenance work across Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital. The role involves working with a team of onsite engineers who will integrate into the technical team. The individual should aim to expand their professional qualifications, ensuring robust and reliable cover for our client.
The Plumber / Heating Engineer will primarily be based at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and will be responsible for maintaining standards within the hospitals. They will provide technical guidance on mechanical systems, including plumbing and water systems, ensuring compliant and efficient service delivery. The candidate should have advanced technical knowledge in more than one skill area and will participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (additional pay applies). Working hours are 40 hours per week.
Basic Duties include:
1. First Fix Reactive Response and Rectification, including fault finding and resolution.
2. Second Fix Reactive Response, supporting colleagues and providing technical advice.
3. Planned Maintenance, ensuring contractual compliance and adherence to legislation and industry standards.
4. Planning, prioritising, and resourcing projects.
5. Ensuring compliance with statutory and company procedures, including H&S and environmental regulations.
6. Installing, commissioning, and servicing plant and equipment.
7. Diagnosing faults, commissioning systems, and monitoring performance through PPM programs.
8. Flexible working hours as required.
9. Administering and completing relevant paperwork.
10. Developing effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
11. Maintaining a professional appearance and manner.
12. Attending training for personal and business development.
13. Holding a full driving licence.
14. Reporting issues to the Technical Services Supervisor/Manager.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
* Approved apprenticeship or relevant practical experience.
* Understanding of risk assessments and safety procedures.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety standards.
* Ability to interpret technical diagrams and work from plans.
* Experience with LTHW, TMVs, Sentinel testing, pipework, valves, drainage, potable water systems.
* Knowledge of Vented and Unvented systems, PPM & reactive work.
* Excellent customer service skills.
Desired Qualifications:
* NVQ qualification.
* Water Regulations Certificate.
* Good computer skills.
* Fire Extinguisher certification.
