Salaried GP with view to Partnership - Village Surgery
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic GP to join our team for 6 sessions per week. We are looking for an innovative, self-motivated doctor who is keen to incorporate his or her ideas into the practice and be fully involved with the decision making that will successfully help guide the practice forward for the future. As a practice we are striving to provide an exceptional level of care to our patients.
We are a friendly and supportive practice with an excellent primary care team alongside our extended PCN team members to provide multi-disciplinary care to our patients. We are located within the area of the university and support the students of the Arts University.
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, on-call duties, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
2. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
3. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
4. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
5. In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
6. Providing counselling and health education.
7. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
8. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
9. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
10. Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
11. Contributing to the attainment of all quality indicators (QoF) and any local or national initiative that the practice takes part in.
12. In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal clinical duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
13. Completing insurance and other medical reports as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
1. GMC Registered.
2. MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
3. Inclusion on the Performers List.
4. MPS/MDUS/MDDUS membership.
5. DBS Enhanced Check.
Experience:
1. Worked within a GP Practice/Under GP training Scheme.
2. Wide range of clinical experience.
Ability/Skills:
1. Able to demonstrate clinical ability and work independently, but willing to seek timely assistance from colleagues when appropriate.
2. Good communication skills on all levels.
3. Capacity to adjust behaviour & language as appropriate to needs of differing situations.
4. Able to establish good working relationships with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Contribute to/participate in peer support group.
5. Capacity to organise information/time effectively in a planned manner.
6. Capacity to recognise own limitations and develop appropriate coping mechanisms.
