The Auckland Project has an exciting role for a Health and Safety Assistant that will help support the Senior Health and Safety Advisor and wider Estates team. The post holder will ensure that the Health & Safety department has additional support, enabling the delivery of excellent customer service, value for money and organisational adherence to legislative requirements that are required under the Health and safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
The Health and Safety Department form part of the Estates Team and are responsible for all properties within the Auckland Project these include unique and historical venues such as Auckland Palace, Spanish Gallery, Mining Art Gallery and the Auckland Tower among many others. Providing advice, guidance and support to the workforce at all levels on all matters of health & safety and fire safety and prevention, promoting safe working practices, preventing accidents, injuries and ill-health, and assisting the organisation in fulfilling its legal obligations.
Whilst this is largely an administration role, the post holder will be required to assist with and carryout risk assessments and physical inspections, which includes travel to various buildings and locations across the TAP estate. Each day will be different and bring new challenges and opportunities to learn. This will be a pivotal role to the functional support within the team.

Key Responsibilities:
The post-holder is responsible for the following key deliverables and accountabilities:
• Assisting with and carrying out practical workplace inspections across TAP sites, ensuring adherence to regulations, writing up reports and assigning actions to the relevant departments.
• Assisting various departments with undertaking and reviewing risk assessments in a variety of situations across the broad activities that TAP undertakes.
• Assisting with collating and conducting annual reviews of risk assessments across TAP.
• Assisting with a variety of audits.
• Working closely with the workforce at all levels of the business to provide advice, guidance and support relating to health & safety and fire safety & prevention, and acting as a point of contact when the health & safety advisor is absent.
• Monitoring incoming accidents, incidents and near miss. Assisting with investigations when necessary, collating information and assigning investigations to relevant managers when required.
• Assisting in the formation, review and update of various health & safety policies, processes and procedures.
• Monitoring health & safety compliance across TAP, identifying gaps and potential breaches.
• Responding to health & safety and fire safety concerns across TAP, taking action to remedy and communicate with various departments and managers following inspections.
• Updating health & safety noticeboards across TAP regularly, ensuring information displayed for the workforce is accurate, up-to-date and tidy.
• Carrying out first aid checks regularly, monitoring and re-ordering stock and replenishing supplies.
• Assist with carrying out ladder inspections.
• Carrying out regular AED (Automated External Defibrillator) checks.
• Ensuring PPE stock is up-to-date, montiro use and replesnish supplies as required.
• Ensuring the health & safety compliance tracker is updated regularly.
• Assiting with undertaking and reviewing fire risk assessments and reviewing fire safety related documentation, including the review of evacuation plans and procedures.
• Assist in the updating and implementation of the H&S Sharepoint site
• Assist with organising and scheduling in-house training and health & safety meetings, with minute taking when required.
• Occasional assistance to the wider estate and facilities team when necessary.
• Assist in dealing with unexpected and day-to-day issues and requests for H&S advice or guidance on a variety of matters.
• General clerical tasks and other practical duties as required.
• Although this will role will largely be Monday – Friday, some weekend and evening working may be required.
