We are looking for anenthusiastic team player to come and join our senior nursing leadership team asa full time band 6 junior sister. We are looking for askilled nurse to take responsibility for the day to day ward management andprovide skilled evidence based nursing care.
We are a 28 bedded ward. Patients are caredfor by all members of the multi-disciplinary team. The Unit is staffed 24/7,and medical support is provided by Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Successful applicants will be expected to worka variety of shifts over a 7-day period including days and nights and weekends.

Main duties of the job
As a junior sister you will be responsible for providing care topeople admitted to our ward for rehabilitation, including training andsupervision of junior staff. You will be required to manage the ward in theabsence of the ward manager on a day to day basis. We work closely as amulti-disciplinary team. Our focusispromoting the comfort andwellbeing of patients, enablingthemto live as independently aspossible. Wyre Forest ward is a small but friendly team to work with. As a teamwe encourage ongoing learning and development through reflection and clinicalsupervision which we try and embed in our daily practice working alongside allmembers of the MDT as well as patients, their families and carers to provided24/7 rehabilitation to enable the highest level of independence and quality oflife. Our nurses are required to attend meetings as needed such as MDT and CHCor Discharge Planning.

Job description
Job responsibilities

8. Carry out skilled, evidence- basednursing care.

10. Work as a named nurse for a caseload ofpatients, coordinating the multidisciplinary assessment, planning, delivery andevaluation of care and treatment, ensuring patients have an individualised careplan.
11. Evaluate and reassess nursing careaccording to clinical need.
12. Promote and support patient advocacy,self-empowerment and maximising patient independence, involving patients andcarers (where appropriate) in care decisions.
13. Be responsible for the day-to-daymanagement of the ward/unit as designated by the Matron/Hospital Manager in theabsence of the Ward Manager.
14. Ensure admission and discharge planning practiceis undertaken in accordance with good practice policy and guidance.
15. Work closely with the care coordinator, socialworker and all Primary Health Care team members and others concerned, tofacilitate safe discharge or transfer of patient care.
16. Supervise care given by staff nurses and HCAs,Rehabilitation and other support members of the team.
17. Delegate nursing care appropriately to juniorstaff.
18. Contribute in undertaking Staff DevelopmentReviews annually, for junior staff, participate and support clinicalsupervision and reflective practice within the ward team.
19. Adhere to the Trusts policies and procedures.
20. Adhere to local and national Health and Safetyregulations and ensure that other members of the ward team are aware andadhere.
21. Ensure safe cover for the ward within the setstaffing levels and to inform the Ward Manager if this cannot be achieved.
22. Attend and participate in the hospitalmanagement clinical team and other appropriate hospital and staff meetings.
23. Identify risk within the ward/department andtake appropriate action and to promote the safety of the patients, staff andvisitors to the ward.
24. Facilitate audit: undertake service auditwithin the ward/unit
25. Support the Ward Manager / Matron/HospitalManager in managing the ward / service within agreed budget and liaise withMatron/Hospital Manager on budgetary issues.
26. Be aware of relative cost of items in commonuse and ensure efficient use of ward resources.
27. Participate in staff recruitment and selectionprocesses.
28. Deputise for / represent the Ward Manager /Matron/Hospital Manager in their absence and on a rotational basis hold thehospital bleep if necessary.
