We’re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking SEN school in Maidenhead that provides high levels of therapeutic support and an individualised learning experience. This school follows a highly structured, evidence-based approach to teaching, helping students develop their communication, independence, and life skills in a nurturing and supportive environment. As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting students aged 4-16 with autism, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of teachers, therapists, and behaviour specialists. The school’s approach is rooted in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behaviour (VB), ensuring that each child receives tailored support to help them reach their full potential. Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, helping them access learning in a structured and engaging way Implement strategies to develop communication, social skills, and independence, guided by specialist teachers and therapists Use visual aids, structured routines, and positive reinforcement to create a calm and productive learning environment Support with daily activities, including sensory play, structured learning tasks, and life skills development Help students with emotional regulation, using personalised strategies to reduce anxiety and promote well-being Assist with personal care tasks, where required, ensuring dignity and respect for all pupils Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and therapists to ensure the best possible outcomes for each child Requirements ✅ Experience working with autism and/or SEN pupils is highly desirable A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with complex needs Ability to follow structured teaching methods, including ABA and other evidence-based strategies Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) Pay is competitive and includes statutory holiday pay.
