Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Term, Full-Time Recreation Therapy Programmer at Bedford Campus!
Qualifications:
1. Degree or diploma in Therapeutic Recreation
2. Minimum of one year of experience in the delivery of recreation therapy programs within a long term care environment.
3. Demonstrated skills in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Recreation Therapy Programs and services
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Demonstrated organizational skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis according to Northwood’s corporate standard
Responsibilities:
1. Facilitates and participates in the implementation of recreational therapy programs that are based on the needs, interests, and capabilities of residents
2. Plans, implements, and evaluates recreational and leisure activities
3. Trains and supervises volunteers; Builds and maintains professional volunteer relationships
4. Develops and maintains working relationships with residents, families, staff members, and community partners
5. Understands and works within the Recreation Therapy service delivery model and department goals and objectives outlined in the Comprehensive Program Plan document
6. Participates in the care planning process
7. Completes daily administrative tasks (e.g., writes and responds to emails, participates in interprofessional meetings, tracks program attendance)
8. Manages and supervises student learning (grade school, college, and university)
9. Assesses and manages assigned resident caseload
10. Manages the daily operations of recreational facilities
11. Organizes, researches and collaborates with the Recreational Therapy team to develop the monthly calendar
12. American Sign Language considered an asset
Hours: 80 hours bi-weekly (8-12 hour shifts) - Days/Evenings
