Summary: As a SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) Advisor - Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our organisation maintains the highest standards of safety, health, environmental responsibility, and quality across all operations. Your input will contribute to the continuous improvement of our SHEQ management systems to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying risks, implementing preventative measures, and providing expert guidance to all levels of the organization. Specific Responsibilities/Tasks: Weekly Deliver the overall "avoidance of utility apparatus" strategy. Conduct Genny & CAT assessments and training across the group, which can vary depending on incidents, induction, refresher training/assessments. Proactively review and report on operatives’ performance relating to the "avoidance of utility apparatus" via site visits and available software e.g. CAT Manager Lead on any Utility Damage/Discovery investigations across the group, working with others to produce reports within SHEQ SLA's and drive cultural change. Driving cultural change via behavioural safety coaching Proactively drive culture and lead the strategy to reduce utility damages across the group. Completing site safety tours to ensure employees are working safely and compliantly, reporting any issues via escalation process where necessary. Accurately reporting near misses and/or positive interventions. Attend weekly SHEQ meetings. Assisting the Operations Department in developing construction phase plans and associated RAMS. Completing incident investigations, debriefs and reporting fully and accurately, reporting any issues to line manager and following escalation process within SHEQ SLA's Monthly: Reporting on the "avoidance of utility apparatus" strategy to Senior Management Conducting toolbox talks across the group. Ad hoc: Ensure the business remains up to date with legislative and industry best practice in regard to the "avoidance of utility apparatus". Ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations Attending and supporting with client meetings Reviewing and updating Risk Assessments and Method Statements, to ensure they remain fit for purpose, specifically in regard to excavation and the avoidance of utility apparatus. Write Site Specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements and when required, to meet the needs of the business/client requirements. Support field-based stand downs. Prepare and deliver site inductions. Supporting the business with social value events Qualifications & Training: NEBOSH Qualification - National General Certificate or Construction specific - Desirable Energy & Utility Skills Register SHEA - Gas/Electric/Water Card - Essential National Water Hygiene (NWH) (EUSR) Card - Desirable PTLLS Qualification - Level 3 or above - Desirable NEBOSH Fire - Desirable EUSR Category 1 - Locate Utility Services (or equivalent) EUSR Category 2 - Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices (or equivalent) ProQual Level 2 - Utility Avoidance and location of buried services in construction award Radio detection course Technical Skills & Experience: Experience in SHEQ management, preferably in similar role within Civil Engineering and/or Utilities Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards pertaining to safety, health, environment, and quality, including HSG47 Strong working knowledge of Genny & CAT assessment, CAT manager, with an ability to assess and train others. Ability to analyse CAT manager reports to identify trends, produce and deliver reports to Senior Management Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. The ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines and drive results.
