At Safran Seats, we are unique within aerospace, as we interface with both the world's biggest airlines and airframers alike, with the largest seats portfolio of all seats suppliers. One day you could be dealing with one of the world's largest airframers, and the next, some of the biggest airline brands around the world!
In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales.
What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are Government funded, work-based training programmes for recruiting full-time people ages 16+ (there is no upper age limit) and providing them with the opportunity to combine ‘on the job' training with a nationally recognised. The apprenticeships programme, funded through the Welsh Government supports training costs. The employer who works with an approved training provider carries out most of the training, for Safran Seats this is Newport and District Group Training Association (NDGTA), University of South Wales and University of Wales Trinity St David's
There are four types of Engineering Degree Apprenticeships in operation at Safran Seats GB for 2025. Degree Apprenticeships are designed by industry to bring together the very best in higher and vocational education. At the end of this course you will be a qualified Engineer with a full Bachelor's in either:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Embedded Systems (
• Material Science

What will I be doing as an Apprentice?

If your previous qualifications mean you can start on a Higher Apprenticeship, you will attend college 1 day/week to complete your academic qualification and work onsite 4 days/wk.
During your working time onsite, you will work in specific departments in rotation to learn. The departments you will work in are linked to the discipline you have chosen to study, e.g. mechanical, electrical or manufacturing.
Each rotation is linked with the assessment criteria for you qualification. The learning necessary and the complexity of the department will determine the length of time you spend in each department, to give insight into the knowledge you need to acquire and skills to develop in this area and relate it into your academic assessments.
