Job Purpose:
The Gas and Heating Contract Manager is responsible for comprehensive management of heating maintenance contracts, with a strong emphasis on technical expertise. This role involves line management of engineers working on these contracts in collaboration with Service Managers, managing project costing, and supervising work execution. The Gas and Heating Technical Manager will also handle certification processes, manage schedules of rates, and maintain effective communication with all clients within this department. This position reports directly to the Head of Heating & Electrical and holds ultimate accountability for the successful delivery of assigned contracts from an engineering perspective.

Duties:
1. Supervising and managing the activities of engineers and supervisors on the ground in collaboration with service managers.
2. Delivering a high-quality service to clients and their customers through strict management and enforcement of company processes on-site.
3. Managing engineers and systems, analysing operating practices, and implementing changes to workload and materials delivery schedules to site/van stocks and POD processes.
4. Providing technical guidance and support to engineering staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
5. Developing engineering staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities, including promoting the transition to renewable energy maintenance.
6. Resolving technical problems by coordinating preparation of reports and communication with staff, analysing data, and identifying solutions, then costing for variations.
7. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations in all technical and operational activities.
8. Managing contractual compliance day-to-day for service of heating systems and repairs with assistance from service managers.
9. Providing information by answering questions and requests from clients quickly and efficiently.
10. Maintaining supplies of materials and organisation of logistics through close liaison with procurement and staff on-site.
11. Managing supervisors daily and conducting all engineering reviews and appraisals.
12. Responsible for enforcing and delivering KPI targets around compliance, first-time fix, three-day fix, and return visits, with accurate diagnosis.
13. Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
14. Maintaining weekly operational and financial reporting on progress and completions, assisting in preparation of valuations alongside the commercial team.
15. Responsible for all engineering staff in the department, including disciplinary procedures, toolbox talks, and sales review meetings with any sales staff, as well as reviewing P&L for the department each month.
16. Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
17. Liaising with accounts staff regarding cost-cutting and efficient operation of their department.
18. Managing all heating maintenance works on allocated contracts as per operations manuals and operating protocols.
19. Staying updated with industry trends and advancements to incorporate best practices into the organisation.
Skills/Qualifications:
1. Project management, budget control, spend control and authorisation, ordering, training, technical auditing experience, C&G, NVQ in relevant trades, Word and Excel experience, surveying, and cost analysis experience.
2. In-depth understanding of heating systems, maintenance procedures, and industry standards.
3. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Experience Required:
1. Experience of working on large-scale maintenance programmes, particularly within the social housing sector, with planning & managing large volumes of visits, including budgeting and Health and Safety Management.
2. Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers and supervisors effectively.
