The Graduate Teaching Assistant will primarily assist academic staff in providing a high-quality student experience, which adds value to all stages of the learning experience. The post will provide additional support for students, which may include teaching, face-to-face drop-in sessions, assisting with student placements, on-line support and assistance to students with their writing, technical e.g. mathematics, and study skills.
Applicants must have a degree in psychology. Applicants must also be a member of the British Psychological Society. An MSc, MA, or MRes is also a requirement. Applicants need to have proven communication and organisational skills, an understanding and awareness of the UK higher educational system, and of the issues that may arise in such an environment. Successful applicants would be required to undertake and successfully complete the full-time MPhil in order to fulfil the role with the possibility of transfer to PhD.
The role is varied and challenging, so you will need to be a highly self-motivated individual who is able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines, both autonomously and as part of a team. You will have outstanding communication and organisational skills and an eye for detail. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, but not essential.
Please note that you are required to submit a brief MPhil/PhD research proposal with your application. The research proposal to align with a research area of the psychology department.
