The TVRA is an alliance between the Research & Development Departments from North Tees & Hartlepool NHS FT and South Tees Hospitals NHS FT.
The post holder will support the development of improved performance and research delivery across the constituent trusts in the TVRA. They will promote quality improvement across all operations in the TVRA and lead on a range of programmes addressing performance and service issues and escalating issues for strategic prioritisation where required.
They will provide daily operational management of the Tees Valley Research Alliance (TVRA). This involves responsibility for oversight of the TVRA across both constituent trusts to ensure progression of the service against its strategic objectives and operational plans. They will be responsible for ensuring robust operational processes are in place and regularly reviewed and will report progress against key TVRA, regional and national Performance Indicators and objectives to the TVRA Executive and TVRA Senior Management team.
Main duties of the job
They will be the TVRA managerial point of contact for research teams and development within our Clinical Support services. They will support teams within these areas to grow research capacity, training and skills within the workforce in addition to ensuring appropriate levels of support for research trials delivery.
They will provide innovative and effective leadership for the research workforce in Clinical Support Services and directly line manage the research staff within the Pathology Trials Team and the Innovation Hub Co-ordinator.
The post will be based at James Cook University Hospital but the post holder will be required to have a regular visible and active presence in each constituent Trust.

Knowledge
Essential
* Highly developed specialist knowledge of research staffing, infrastructure and funding models
* Knowledge of local and national research performance targets
* Knowledge of current national systems and structures for the approval, management and monitoring of clinical research in the NHS
* Knowledge of health service management principles
* Ability to critically analyse complex data systems and processes.
Desirable
* Has the experience in presenting at local / national / international conferences
* Has completed a piece of independent research
Qualifications
Essential
* Holds a relevant undergraduate degree qualification
* Holds or working towards a Masters qualification in research or management related discipline or other equivalent experience
* Current and valid Good Clinical Practice Training (GCP)
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
Experience
* Significant experience of working within a research management or governance environment
* Project management experience.
* Experience of NHS and research budgetary management.
* Ability to produce reports for senior level reporting and analyse data.
Desirable
* Experience of developing and providing research related training
* Experience of previous change management or service development including development and implementation of policies, procedures and SOPs
