Meridian Business Support is seeking an experienced and dynamic Finance Lead to join our client’s team based in Huntingdon. This pivotal role involves leading the Financial Accounts and Income team while also covering aspects of the Assistant Director of Finance position. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet, including payroll, payments, receivables, and SBS transactions. Key responsibilities include oversight of monthly financial close, board reporting, and year-end accounts.

Job Description/Duties:
1. Resolve Payroll Issues
2. Complete Charity Review
3. Daily Oversight of Outsourced Financial Services
1. Setup and payment of suppliers
2. Transactional procurement (requisitions and purchase orders)
3. Payroll and treasury management
4. Ensure Compliance with Statutory Returns
1. Month and year-end accounts, charity accounting, and VAT returns
5. Support Financial Planning
1. Manage the balance sheet and cash flow
6. Maintain Financial Integrity
1. Ensure accurate financial reporting and records of the client's financial position
7. Debt Collection
1. Manage salary overpayment recoveries
8. Budget Holder Training
1. Provide training on financial management topics such as cash management, debtors, and capital expenditure
9. Financial Reconciliations and Advisory Services
1. Provide advice on technical matters such as VAT, capital, and lease accounting
To succeed in the role of Finance Lead, candidates should meet the following criteria:
Qualifications:
1. Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
2. Proven expertise in financial accounting, management accounting, and statutory reporting.
Experience:
1. Significant experience in managing financial accounts within a complex organisation, preferably within the healthcare or public sector.
2. Demonstrated experience in managing balance sheet integrity, payroll, payments, receivables, and financial systems.
3. Strong track record of overseeing year-end accounts, audit processes, and statutory submissions.
4. Experience in financial planning, cash flow management, and providing strategic financial advice.
5. Familiarity with financial procedures and compliance requirements is highly desirable.
Skills:
1. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
2. Strong organisational and time-management abilities, able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
3. Proficient in financial systems and software, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to stakeholders.
