6 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary: • We are seeking a passionate and highly organised Domestic Abuse Housing Programme Officer to support the development and implementation of a new service model for victims of domestic abuse within the housing sector. The successful candidate will work closely with SHP, local housing partners, and third-sector organisations to deliver positive change in how domestic abuse survivors are supported in housing services. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to achieving outcomes for vulnerable individuals. • You will be responsible for implementing the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) accreditation programme, developing and embedding policies, and managing training on domestic abuse across the organisation. You will also play a key role in ensuring that the statutory and non-statutory services available to victims are well integrated into housing services, creating a safe and supportive environment for victims and their families. Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Uphold SHP’s Values, Behaviours, and Leadership expectations always. • Work collaboratively with SHP, local housing partners, and third-sector organisations to plan, develop, and implement a new service model for victims of domestic abuse. • Support the implementation of the DAHA accreditation programme and ensure recommendations are applied across the wider housing sector in Sutton. • Develop policies and procedures to embed new ways of working and ensure understanding within the organisation. • Ensure that risks to victims are identified using an evidence-based risk assessment tool integrated into the operating model. • Understand the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to victims and make relevant referrals to safeguard and support victims and their children. • Ensure accurate, confidential case management records are maintained, and monitoring processes are in place to support the new service. • Develop strong partnership arrangements with the housing sector and other partner organisations to ensure the effective delivery of domestic abuse services. • Work within multi-agency partnership structures, including participation in MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference). • Develop initiatives and events with local partners and colleagues from the London Borough of Sutton to increase engagement with SHP and the wider borough. • Oversee and coordinate the Domestic Abuse Workplace Champions roles, supporting their development. • Implement innovative approaches to support both residents and colleagues. • Lead on the training of the organisation on domestic abuse, ensuring up-to-date training modules are used. • Ensure domestic abuse responsibility is embedded across all service areas within the organisation. Skills/Experience: • In-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and the challenges faced by both victims and perpetrators when accessing housing. • Experience of working with the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) accreditation. • Project management experience, preferably in housing or support-related organisations. • Experience in supporting people affected by domestic abuse. • Proven experience in developing and implementing service changes. • Expertise in training and influencing others to achieve service improvement outcomes. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in developing and embedding new policies, processes, and procedures. • Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel, and experience with G Suite. • Understanding of domestic abuse within a social housing context. • Experience working with the traveller community. • Experience developing and implementing bespoke ICT infrastructures for case management. • Strong understanding of the statutory and regulatory frameworks surrounding domestic abuse. • Ability to work effectively with a wider network of professionals to develop housing-related services supporting domestic abuse survivors. • Ability to develop recommendations regarding risk and need based on evidence of domestic abuse. • Strong ability to review and implement changes, embedding best practices to improve frontline services. • Proven experience in achieving DAHA accreditation and engaging with local partners to create a consistent approach across the borough. • Strong project management skills, particularly in managing projects with challenging timescales and outcomes. • Problem-solving skills with a logical approach to identifying issues and providing solutions. • Ability to take personal responsibility for delivering results and meeting deadlines. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
