• Development of emergency nursing practice to improve quality of care.
• To lead by example as a competent practitioner, providing professional, clinical, educational and organisational leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
• To support the ED lead nurse to facilitate new strategies in line with service improvement, National Service Frame works and related initiatives.
• To develop and maintain a high standard of patient care which is patient centred approach by actively supporting and promoting the concept of Clinical Governance.
• To develop a successful clinical learning environment which responds to the changing face of health care.
• To participate in recruitment and retention strategies.
• To formulate, maintain and evaluate training and development programmes for all Nursing Staff in Emergency Department.
• To ensure that all training and development programmes promote and maintain organisational and professional standards, in order to enhance the quality of care delivered.
• To contribute to the development and maintenance of an effective training strategy within the Emergency Department
• To promote a learning environment within ED and maximise the potential for learning in the clinical setting.
• To monitor, co-ordinate and evaluate the induction of all staff through ED.
• To work effectively as a member of the team, dedicated to the provision of clinical excellence.
• To identify appropriate areas of role expansion, and effect the implementation of these, in accordance with Trust Guidelines.
