An excitingopportunity has arisen within the Payments Platform for anEngineering Lead – Edinburgh/London - Payments (IP UK Lab) Ourmission is to provide compliant and efficient payments capabilitiesfor the Group and drive innovation to enable customers to movemoney confidently, quickly and securely. Your role will beinstrumental in driving the engineering excellence, embeddingagile, DevOps and supportive high performing culture across thelab.
Your primary focus willbe prioritising and delivering key changes across a completelymodern technology stack and supporting a service that is criticalfor our customers, business and the wider UK economicinfrastructure. Your responsibilities will also include the growthand development of our people, attracting and retaining talent andof the overall technical excellence of engineering, architectureand DevOps skills within the lab. As an Engineering Lead in ourInstant Payments lab, you will work in a highly collaborative labto build, support and improve our faster payments journey withinour public and private Cloud hosting platform. We expect that youdemonstrate and apply outstanding engineering practices to increaseagility, improve quality, drive up value and help reduce downtimeacross oursolutions.

Whatyou’ll do…
You’ll form part of thesenior management team, managing the engineers in your teams andtaking responsibility for their learning and development. Engineerswill be multi-disciplinary including software engineers, qualityengineers, solution engineers / architects and DevOps to name afew. Through your team you’ll aim to deliver the highest qualitycustomer driven software whilst continually coaching, motivating,mentoring, and supporting theteam.

* Establishand lead our design and decision-making forums, providing expertguidance to colleagues based on your extensiveknowledge.
* Build and nurturerelationships with senior leaders to effectively influence andbring visionary strategies to life across theorganization.
* Oversee themanagement of key stakeholders within the business and maintainproductive partnerships with externalcollaborators.
* Harness thepower of both private and public cloud technologies, pushing theboundaries of what's possible and enhancing our technicalcapabilities.
* Lead andmentor multiple feature teams, empowering them to own and deliverinnovative solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in their dailysuccess and advocate for their work at the highest levels of thecompany.
* Create andimplement technical strategies aimed at transforming andmodernizing our labinfrastructure.
* Educate bothtechnical and non-technical colleagues about DevOps topics andarticulate reasoning behind key technicaldecisions.
Whatyou’ll need…
We like people who comefrom diverse backgrounds that can bring new and challenging ways ofthinking to the team. As a minimum to be considered we’ll need tosee evidence of the following in yourCV’s.
* Experience within asenior management role in an Engineering function, ideally abackground within softwaredevelopment.
* Demonstrableleadership and line management skills working within an agiledeliverycadence.
* Architecture andEngineering knowledge esp. on Java, spring boot, Kafka, andCloud.
* Technical knowledgeof microservicesdevelopment.
* A broad ranginggeneral level of technicalknowledge.
Inaddition, any of the below, would also be beneficial but is notmandatory so please submit your application even if you don’t havethisexperience…
* Experiencein the Payments Domain / Financial Services ingeneral.
* Exposure to privateor publiccloud.
* Understanding ofContinuous Delivery and Continuous Integrationtooling.
