They are responsible for maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of products, policies, regulatory requirements, industry movements and the general financial business environment within the UK, to inform strategic decision making, team management and interaction with internal stakeholder teams, senior management and network firms. This role is about monitoring performance of the Auditor team, as well as oversight of the activities of 1st Line of Defence colleagues, in a structured way. To review, audit and validate the activities to ensure they are meeting the requirements both for Stonebridge’s Business Standards, and thereby all relevant regulatory requirements. And provide feedback, guidance and corrective steer where required. The Lead Auditor is also responsible for designing and undertaking designated and ad hoc audits as required by the business and providing support to the recruitment of and training for new members of the team. Reporting to: Head of Risk. Key responsibilities Leadership of the Audit team Complete ‘deep dive’ audits on referred complex cases. Complete audits for Equity Release cases & queries Recruitment & training of new starters into team Production & presentation of MI reports to Committees Completion of ad hoc themed audits Complete quarterly FCA Returns & audit of FCA Register Our ideal candidate CeMAP qualification is preferred. Second line check in the financial services industry is essential, preferably in the mortgage network space. People management / team leadership experience required. Knowledge of regulatory reporting (RMAR) and financial crime prevention experience also preferred. Able to fully satisfy the pre-employment screening process which comprises of right to work, identity, 5 years referencing, AML, credit screen, financial sanctions, and DBS checks.
