Due to continued business growth, we are looking to recruit a Lead Project Manager to join a well-established Engineering business based near Glasgow.
The successful candidate will be required to lead an established Projects team to deliver on a number of high-level Nuclear projects; therefore, a strong leadership and technical background is a must for this position.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable background in a Lead/Senior Projects capacity with strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment (Pumps/Valves/Motors) and experience dealing with Nuclear projects. Candidates may also be required to travel to supplier sites internationally, so a willingness to travel is essential.
Hours: 0800 – 1630 – options for flexible working are available after the initial probation period.
Skills & Knowledge:
1. Overall responsibility for Nuclear projects.
2. Responsible for the overall execution of the projects, including all elements of execution: Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, following Business Standards and Procedures.
3. Lead Nuclear projects risk profile and identify and incorporate lessons learned.
4. Review and approve monthly progress reports and schedule updates, ensuring changes in scope, durations, or start/finish dates are fully explained and mitigated.
5. Write proposals for variations and negotiate to a successful conclusion with the client.
6. Ensuring project milestones and goals are met.
7. Organising and attending both internal and external meetings as required (international travel is necessary).
8. Coach and mentor all members of the project team and identify suitable further training to develop them.
9. Actively seeking business development opportunities in the Nuclear sector.
10. Actively improve processes and procedures within the Project and suggest adaptations for broader business use.
11. Overall liaison and co-ordination with the workshop and test teams to ensure timely actions in hand for project execution.
12. Providing comprehensive and timely updates to the Managing Director on the project's progression.
Skills / Qualifications:
1. Strong background in a Lead or Senior Project Management role.
2. Demonstrable technical background with knowledge of rotating equipment (Pumps/Valves/Motors).
3. Strong leadership skills.
4. Qualified to a minimum HNC Level within a relevant engineering discipline.
5. Strong Commercial knowledge.
6. Prince 2 or similar qualification preferable.
7. Valid Passport and willingness to travel as required.
