The Apprentice Healthcare Assistant could be your entry into a variety of clinical roles within the organisation. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-motivated person as an Apprentice Healthcare Assistant based at North Walsham Hospital. Upon successful completion, you will receive a nationally recognised Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship qualification. This will be a 14 month fixed term post with a guaranteed position as a Band 3 (£22,816pa) Clinical Support Worker within the Trust. This guaranteed job will be offered subject to successful completion of the apprenticeship, completion of set clinical competences required to meet a band 3 role and demonstration of appropriate conduct.
Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care. To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NCH&C's Values and Behaviour Framework.
Job responsibilities
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered Nurse (RN) or appropriate individual (AI) who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
2. To carry out duties as specified in within the trusts Approved Core Task List for Health Care Assistant.
3. To report to registered staff any patient that gives cause for concern or any observed changes in a patient's clinical condition.
4. To support patients' emotional well-being by supporting positive conversations, actively encouraging participation in ward-based activities.
5. To accurately document all care delivered to patients, including recording documentation electronically on trust systems maintaining confidentiality at all times.
6. To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies to ensure the patient receives appropriate care.
7. To be aware of and adhere to all trust policies / procedures / nursing guidelines when undertaking any activities.
8. To make patients welcome to the clinical area and participate in the admission process under the supervision of registered staff.
9. Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care.
10. To keep the clinical area clean and tidy maintaining a safe environment.
11. To adhere to trust infection control procedures.
12. To assist in the preparation of patients and equipment for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by a RN or AI.
13. To chaperone/escort patients to other clinical departments and or NHS Units under the direction of the RN or AI.
14. To support relatives under the guidance of a RN or AI.
15. To assist with the discharge preparation for patients directed by RN (AI) and or member of Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

Qualifications
* Education and passed GCSE level in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
Experience
* An interest in working in a nursing/Care Assistant role.
* Some previous experience in a nursing/Care Assistant role.
