A part-time Consultant in Orthodontics is required to join the existing team of Oral and Maxillofacial and Restorative Consultants at North Manchester and affiliated sites within MFT. Post holders may be required to work at any of the Trust sites if necessary. This is an existing post to replace a departed consultant. This appointment [5.5 PAs] will be made in accordance with the 2003 Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions. Candidates who are unable, for personal reasons, to work full time are eligible to apply and, if successful, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Main duties of the job
* Provide outstanding clinical leadership across NMGH and outreach sites, delivering highly personalised care alongside developing skills in clinical research to advance the field of oral maxillofacial surgery.
* Obtain the Intercollegiate Exit FRC (OMFS) through postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery to provide surgical interventions for various oral and maxillofacial procedures, such as dental implants, orthognathic surgeries, TMJ disorders, facial trauma, and facial reconstructive surgeries.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including dentists, orthodontists, radiologists, and anaesthesiologists, ensuring optimal patient care and treatment outcomes for patients.

* Stay up to date with the latest developments in oral maxillofacial surgery, techniques, and treatment modalities.
* Teach, mentor, and supervise residents, fellows, and medical students to develop the next generation of OMFS specialists.

* Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
* On the GDC specialist list in Orthodontics
* Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Orthodontics
* Membership in Orthodontics or equivalent
* Successful completion of an SAC approved two-year minimum training programme in a Post CCST Training Appointment in Orthodontics or within 6 months of completion of training, or equivalent which follows on from the pre-CCST training period of 3 years or equivalent
* ISFE (Orthodontics) or within 6 months of ISFE or equivalent before commencing

* Fellowship in dental Surgery or membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
