Salary: £11,310 to £11,887 per annum (pro rata of £22,620 to £23,775), plus excellent benefits
Contract Type: 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, permanent, part-time.

South Devon College is recruiting for an Animal Unit Technician to join the Animal Management and Land Based Studies Team. You will work with the Animal Unit team to ensure the welfare needs of all animals in the College Collection are met. This will involve lone working on a Sunday, some Saturday’s and some bank holidays. Duties will include, cleaning accommodation and feeding the full range of species; maintaining animal record keeping systems; regular health checking and application of medication as required; ensuring that health, safety, hygiene and security systems and procedures are adhered to on the Animal unit and other practical areas. You will need to be self-motivated and have excellent time management. You will support learners to complete their practical work and will supervise unit volunteers. Our collection is varied and you will be working with livestock, poultry, exotic mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians.
The successful applicant will hold a Level 2 qualification in Animal Care or hold significant experience. You will have experience of caring for a range of species and be experienced in lone working.
