As a Content Designer you’ll create concepts and solutions for Sainsbury’s products, services, propositions and experiences. This may include our transactional and non-transactional websites, apps, self-service tills, loyalty propositions – or new in-store concepts and services that need to be explored, defined and developed. You will work in an agile, collaborative environment with cross-functional teams and stakeholders and will need to feel comfortable working in product teams. You will approach design inclusively and use insights and evidence to back-up your ideas, plan and structure, and deliver your work turn complex challenges into easy, enjoyable experiences for our customers and colleagues. As a Content Designer, you know that content is fundamental to great experiences. At Sainsbury’s we know that too. That’s why you’ll work across all our brands, with the freedom to focus on what can make the most difference for customers. You’ll be obsessive about plain English and usability, so we give you the tools to make sure you’re answering user needs – whether that’s remote usability studies or using Figma to create prototypes. You’ll work in cross-functional teams, partnering with Experience Designers, Researchers, End-to-End Designers and Engineers. And you’ll work on ground-breaking new projects that combine physical and digital shopping. The Content Design team is small but mighty, so a key part of the role will be scaling your impact. You’ll develop Content Design best practice as part of our design system, and help upskill and inspire Experience Designers in the team. This is a role for someone curious, adaptable, and above all, single-minded about designing amazing customer experiences. What you need to do · Create, evaluate, update and review content at all stages of the end-to-end user journey · Craft content to create intuitive, accessible experiences interface · Champion the customer through testing and validating all content including feedback from customers, colleagues, Marketing, Product Managers, and product feedback mechanisms. · Collaborate with stakeholders and other experience design team members to create storytelling and content approaches · Create content design in line with our best practice standards · Maintain and contribute to the Voice and Tone style guide within the broader experience design guidelines. · Clearly communicate content development rationale and processes to project team members. · Liaise with the Legal team to ensure your work meets pre-defined company requirements What you need to know and show · Experience as a Content Designer or UX Writer, ideally for a big brand · High level of creativity, problem-solving skills · Adept at collaborating with stakeholders through a range of agile methods, including workshops – championing the voice of the customer whilst balancing business objectives · Experience of content design tools and techniques · An understanding of inclusive design frameworks · Figma skills (desirable) · Knowledge of best practices and emerging digital and retail technologies and trends · Experience in content design practices · Working knowledge of user research and testing methods · Ability to demonstrate the behavioural competencies of this role, including initiative, flexibility, strong communication skills and ability to deal with ambiguity · A content design portfolio, showcasing your talent, skills, process and experience · Proactive collaboration with project teams, the design community and stakeholders alike · Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities, and work with diverse personalities and complex dynamics What decisions I can make including budget · Content design decisions that improve the customer’s user experience Support we will provide · Include the resources available e.g. Sainsbury’s intranet (OurSainsburys) · Generic Sainsbury’s L&D, line management support · A thriving design culture, opportunity to discuss and share work with open, collaborative feedback · A mature design system and set of standards to work with · Senior content design, research, accessibility and design expertise
