Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Northumberland Children and Young Peoples Service. We are recruiting a band 6 Community Practitioner to work in our Mental Health/Learning Disability Pathways.
Our service is fully integrated and provides specialist mental health assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex and enduring mental health problems, including those with a learning disability. The multi-disciplinary team comprises a highly skilled and experienced workforce.
You will be responsible for the assessment and management of casework for service users who have substantial and complex mental health needs, providing evidence-based interventions following a full assessment as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will complete documentation within robust timescales and ensure review.
Your duties will include supporting families and partner agencies, and attending multi-agency meetings to safeguard children.
Your base will be allocated to the closest to your home address (with bases in Alnwick, Hexham, Blyth, and Morpeth).
Main Duties of the Job
We deliver a wide range of evidence-based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. We have developed a comprehensive supervision structure for staff including individual supervision and peer support. We offer many interventions to young people and their families, alongside training via our internal training programme.
We are keen to recruit clinicians with experience in working with infants, cared-for children and young people, and those with trauma and attachment difficulties. Successful candidates will be supported to engage in appropriate therapeutic training, following a probationary period, to further enhance their skills and knowledge. Collaborative working with partner agencies and as part of a multi-disciplinary team is an integral aspect of this post.
About Us
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented, and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return, we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
You will receive regular supervision and the chance to engage in ongoing continuing professional development.
The service operates within the North business unit of CNTW and works across the geographical area of Northumberland. The team functions as an MDT where we work collaboratively with nurses, support workers, occupational therapists, social workers, psychology, and psychiatry.
