An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Outpatient Department in MREH as a Band 4 Registered Nurse Associate.
The unit operates Monday- Saturday service where patients are reviewed for routine, urgent, post-op, Laser Treatment and elective eye conditions to provide and deliver high-quality, effective, safe care in a well-led service.
This is a very busy environment with a variety of complex eye cases and will require an individual who is able to adapt and work in a challenging environment. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and provide compassionate care.
The post holder will assess, implement, plan and evaluate the delivery of direct patient care, ensuring delivery of high-caliber care and efficient use of facilities, personnel, and other resources.
We are committed to delivering high standards of multi-disciplinary patient-focused care. The post holder will be covering mainly the pediatric clinic but will be expected to work in all OPD clinics.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have accountability to provide and deliver high standards of patient care and for managing the patient flow of the unit. The main role of a Registered Nurse Associate (RNA) is to provide compassionate, safe, and effective care and support to our patients in OPD. The RNA will safely undertake the following procedures to meet the patient needs, including undertaking routine procedures such as Eye Visions, Intra Ocular Pressure, Eye drops installation, administering oral medication, obtaining blood samples from adult and pediatric patients, coordinating the clinics, and working with MDT. The post holder will predominantly work in the Pediatric clinic providing care to children and young people.
You will be provided with all necessary skills competency and we have a dedicated Education team to support you with OPD.

Qualifications
* Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register with a Foundation Degree
* GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent (not entry level 2)
Knowledge
* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
* Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
* Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation
* Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
Training & Experience
* Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
* Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information

Skills
* Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
* Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload; recognising where elements of care can safely be delegated to other colleagues, carers, and family members
