Your new role
As the Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data models, ETL processes, reports, and dashboards, delivering end-to-end BI solutions from data ingestion to processing and visualization. You will work with colleagues to refine and estimate requirements and deliver pragmatic solutions that meet the business’s needs. Additionally, you will contribute to the implementation and development of standards, tools, and techniques ensuring all work is delivered in accordance with best practice. Collaboration with stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate progress, challenges, and insights in a clear and concise manner is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Working closely with colleagues, including business analysts and data engineers, to refine and estimate requirements.
2. Designing and implementing dimensional and semantic models for reporting and scalable, efficient ETL processes using Azure Data Services, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and performance.
3. Creating actionable and visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI that inform decisions and support service delivery.
4. Ensuring all code is documented and committed to version control following agreed branching and pull-request processes.
5. Implementing and maintaining security measures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven experience of delivering end-to-end BI solutions.
* Experience of agile/iterative development, including refining and estimating user stories, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of Business Intelligence solutions.
* Strong scripting/programming skills in languages such as Python/R and advanced knowledge of SQL.
* In-depth knowledge of data warehouse design and development, including data modeling (Kimball) and developing ETL/ELT processes.
* Experience in designing and implementing Power BI semantic models and developing measures in DAX.
* Expertise in delivering reports and dashboards in Power BI with knowledge of data visualization, best practices, and accessibility standards.
* Experience of Azure DevOps, including backlogs, boards, GIT, automation, and deployment pipelines.
* Knowledge of relevant information security risks and mitigation.
* Understanding of data protection regulations, including GDPR.
* The ability to think strategically, pay close attention to detail, and proactively research solutions and best practices, with proven analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, committed to working collaboratively and building effective relationships.
* Self-motivated with a commitment to flexibility in delivery and style to meet business needs.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the confidence to constructively challenge existing ideas and work practices.
* Delivery focused with a pragmatic approach to assessing requirements and goals and translating business needs to technical specifications.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
