This includes the necessary training and development to undertake third-party accredited assessment schemes that evidence each individual’s technical competency. NHBC will provide the financial funding for completion of the assessment schemes as well as registration with the Building Safety Regulator As a Trainee Building Inspector, you will be on the frontline delivering on our mission; to raise the standards & quality of new homes. You’ll be part of our new trainee BI cohort; you and other new colleagues will start your journey with us together and receive excellent training. Your training will be a combination of ‘classroom’ based learning, in our award-winning Academy in Milton Keynes and days out with your colleagues/mentor(s) visiting house-building sites. We will arrange and pay for your overnight accommodation when you come to the Academy. I now have colleagues from across the country who I consider not only close but also lifelong friends. ” What You’ll Be Doing Assist in inspecting homes at key stages of construction, ensuring compliance with NHBC Standards and Building Regulations. Plan and schedule inspection visits to construction sites, meeting agreed service levels. Provide technical expertise, advice, and guidance on construction processes. Record and report the results of inspections to builders and their representatives. Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, supporting high standards of construction quality. After approximately 6-9 months, you will become a qualified Building Inspector, working with our registered builders to ensure that the new homes they are building meet the NHBC Standards, Building Regulations and other relevant legislation. We’ll encourage you to build excellent working relationships with the site managers on your patch, working with them to identify and prevent construction defects. It’s an important job, helping us to manage our insurance risk and to create the very best homes for new home buyers. What We’re Looking For We want to find committed, ambitious individuals with a keen eye for detail who share our passion for quality construction. You’ll be keen to learn, happy to keep your knowledge up to date and have a strong desire to build a successful career in house building. You’ll be personable, able to build and sustain effective working relationships with your customers. In due course, you’ll also have the technical know-how to be credible, provide guidance where it’s needed and be assertive enough to stand your ground if you discover something that needs to be addressed. Education And Qualifications Ideally you will have / are working towards a construction or surveying related qualification such as City and Guilds, HNC, HND or NVQ (or equivalent) You will require a full UK Driving Licence.
