Practice Nurse with an interest in minor illness
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, hard-working General Practice Nurse with minor illness experience to join our friendly GP training practice, working between 16 to 20 hours a week, as part of the nursing team. We provide primary care services for a population of approximately 11,700 people in Kiveton and the surrounding area.
Main duties of the job
To assist in and perform patient care as directed by the GPs. Responsible for attending to patients with a variety of issues who wish to be seen by a health care professional, diagnosing, treating, reviewing patients, and referring as necessary, in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs.
It is envisaged that the post holder will expand their role in accordance with practice requirements and their scope of practice.
Job responsibilities
* Responsible for attending to patients with a variety of issues who wish to be seen by a health care professional, diagnosing, treating, reviewing patients, and referring as necessary.
* Chronic disease management in any of the following: Asthma, COPD, Dementia, Diabetes, Heart Failure, Hypertension, or Rheumatology.
* Spirometry interpretation.
* Minor illness assessment and management under GP supervision.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
* Mentor or teaching qualification
* Diploma or degree in chronic disease
* Family planning qualification
Experience
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Experience of working autonomously
* Experience as a practice nurse or community nurse
* Experience of infection prevention and control measures
* Experience of audits
* Experience in minor illness
