About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing tailored learning programmes that meet the unique needs of students with SEN. You will work closely with support staff, therapists, and school leaders to create a stimulating and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher:
* Design and implement individualised learning plans (ILPs) that cater to diverse needs and abilities.
* Deliver engaging and adaptive lessons that align with the National Curriculum and SEN frameworks.
* Utilise differentiated teaching techniques to support students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and other complex learning needs.
* Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic student support.
* Conduct regular assessments and progress reviews, ensuring that learning objectives are met.
* Foster strong relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on student development and strategies for home learning.
* Implement positive behaviour management strategies, supporting students in developing self-confidence and independence.
Requirements of the SEN Teacher:
* Must have a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
* Strong understanding of SEND strategies, including autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and complex needs.
* Ability to differentiate learning materials and tailor lessons to meet individual pupil needs.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals.
* Patience, empathy, and a passion for inclusive education.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
