Job summary Applications are invited for 2 Consultant Neurologist posts across South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. Both posts are offered on a 10PA basis, however LTFT applications will be considered. Successful candidates will have CCT or equivalent and be on the GMCs Specialist Register for Neurology when they take up the post (applications are welcome from those within six to nine months of their CCT date). We are seeking motivated, dynamic and supportive individuals who possess strong leadership and communication skills to join our growing team in developing comprehensive neurology services for our patients. Successful candidates will join a team of seven consultant neurologists and a wider team of doctors in training, specialist nurses, AHPs and PAMs delivering care to meet the needs of our local population. The STSFT Neurology service provides sub-speciality care across a range of clinical pathways including Parkinsons Disease, Headache, MS, Epilepsy and Neuro-Ophthalmology as well as General Neurology. We also deliver an in-house Neurophysiology service and Neurological Rehabilitation service based on the Sunderland site. Neuroradiology and Neuropathology services are provided in our neighbouring Regional Neurosciences Centre at the RVI (Newcastle) and James Cook (Teesside) hospitals. Main duties of the job Applications are welcomed from new or established consultant neurologists with a specialist interest and who wish to pursue and develop their area of practice in the future. Posts will include dedicated time within an agreed job plan to attend weekly clinical and educational meetings. In addition, there are close links with the University of Sunderland and Newcastle University medical schools and regional medical training programmes. Post-holders will primarily be based at the Sunderland Royal Hospital site but will be expected to regularly deliver activity at South Tyneside District Hospital and satellite OP clinic sites as required to meet the needs of the service.
