To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Technical Assistant to come and join our team at our Atlas Factory, Walsall, WS9 8BL JOB PURPOSE As the process technical assistant, you will be responsible for overseeing the Kiln & Dryer operations, procurement and testing of all production materials and delivery of the factory quality and sustainability plans and systems, to optimise the performance of the factory. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Health, Safety & Wellbeing Promote a culture where the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues is the absolute priority. Carry out safety checks. Assist in the development of Standard Safe Operating Procedures (SSOP) and Risk Assessments (RA). Company Rules & Procedures Ensure all statutory obligations, company policies and procedures are understood and adhered to at all times. Leadership Deliver visible leadership and engagement of the team to create and embed a culture of high performance and development. Act as a role model of Ibstock's values and behaviours Coach and develop the team to maximise their strengths, and to close any development gaps. Operational Excellence Work with the factory team to implement the strategic plan for the site. Application of the Ibstock Management System (IMS) to generate and facilitate continuous improvement practices across all areas of the manufacturing facility to optimise manufacturing capability. Collate and analyse factory data to drive continuous improvement, develop and achieve key targets and objectives. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any relevant non-conformances at the factory. Implement and sustain world-class 5S standards within the process environment. Manage clay procurement, extraction, stockpiling, blending and usage. Audit of key principles for Kiln, Quality and Sustainability actions Ensure all relevant data is recorded accurately. Safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment to deliver the products required. Carry out quality checks as required. Carry out sustainability checks as required. Analysis of Lab results and acting on the results. Management of Raw Materials. Carry out basic preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as required. Train new starters as required. Sustainability Continuously strive to improve the sustainability performance of products and operations Knowledge, Skills and Experience Has knowledge of current Health, Safety, Quality and Sustainability legislation in a manufacturing workplace. An outstanding team player, who is flexible and meets challenge with a pragmatic and resilient approach. Able to implement and drive performance improvement using Continuous Improvement tools & techniques. Has the ability to analyse, interpret and present data to identify key trends and opportunities. Is numerate and literate. Is able to use IT systems effectively. Has knowledge of Ceramic Technology and Brick Manufacture.
