About The Role Bell is seeking a dedicated and responsible Residential Assistant to join our Cambridge team, living onsite in our busy and vibrant student accommodation. As a Residential Assistant you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of our international student residents, aged 18 and over. The Residential Assistant will ensure the residence remains a pleasant place to live and assist students with check in and check out. You will be required to enforce rules when necessary, fostering a respectful and harmonious living environment that upholds Bell standards. The working hours are up to 20 hours per week, working 5 days per week to include 3 hours 9pm - midnight on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 8 hours on a Sunday. This means the post could easily be combined with other day time work, should you wish. This is a live-in post and comes with the benefit of free accommodation and utility bills, set in acres of beautiful private school grounds in the south of Cambridge. Other Responsibilities Will Include Welcome students and conduct a brief induction to include house rules, expectations around cleanliness and noise, and fire evacuation procedures. Deal with students’ queries and provide local information as required. Act as a point of liaison for Bell staff, students and (occasionally) their parents. Help ensure the welfare, safety and security of students. Make sure the rules are adhered to and that the residence remains a calm and relaxing place for all its guests. Report any incidents or concerns to the Bell Cambridge team. Suggest ways that things can be improved and report any maintenance issues. Assist in the event of any fire or other emergency evacuation. A DBS check will be requested in the event of a successful application. About You The ideal candidate will have experience of working with young people and be able to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills. You will need to have a friendly and approachable manner and be able to use initiative when required. Previous pastoral or welfare experience is desirable, as is experience of working in a residential capacity, such as in a boarding house.
