We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Financial Manager to lead the financial operations of a fast-growing utility company based in Bradford. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-growth, family-owned business and play a key role in shaping the company's future.
As the Senior Financial Manager, you will be responsible for driving the financial strategy and ensuring the company's long-term financial health. You will lead a small team, oversee all financial activities, and collaborate closely with senior leadership to support strategic growth objectives. With a revenue of over £10 million, our client is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for financial excellence and the ability to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee account, invoice, and expense reconciliation, ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely P&L updates using Xero.
2. Lead the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns and produce detailed performance reports with recommendations for reducing corporation tax.
3. Approve and draft invoices, managing payment schedules to ensure timely payments to suppliers.
4. Develop and implement financial strategies, guiding budgeting and forecasting while ensuring compliance with UK regulations.
5. Manage cash flow to ensure operational funding and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proficiency in Xero accounting software for maintaining and updating P&L statements.
2. Strong experience in account reconciliation and commercial invoice review.
3. Commercial knowledge to support operational staff as needed.
4. Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
5. Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
6. Experience with financial software, particularly Xero, and advanced financial modelling skills.
7. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
8. Preference for candidates with experience in construction, utilities, or engineering (not essential).
