Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision (Arabic-Speaking) About the Role: Equitas are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision setting, providing essential support to a non-English-speaking student whose first language is Arabic. This role requires a patient, compassionate, and adaptable individual who can help the student develop their reading, writing, and spoken English skills, enabling them to access the curriculum and integrate into the school environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to an Arabic-speaking student to develop their English language skills. Assist in delivering tailored ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) interventions. Work closely with teachers and SENCO to adapt learning materials and ensure the student can engage with lessons. Support classroom activities, encouraging participation and confidence in speaking English. Use bilingual communication to help bridge language gaps and aid comprehension. Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff, ensuring appropriate strategies are in place. Help with behaviour management, engagement, and emotional well-being. Assist in developing the student’s literacy and numeracy skills through targeted support. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. Requirements: Fluent in Arabic and English (spoken and written). Experience working with EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners is highly desirable. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role in an Alternative Provision, SEN, or mainstream setting. A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with language barriers. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and adapt to the needs of the student.
