Our client is a well-established and well-respected freight packing and forwarding company based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. We now have an exciting opportunity for a confident and experienced Freight Forwarding specialist to join the company and help us to continue delivering excellent customer service in all aspects of import and export freight shipping.
Joining as a Deputy Freight Manager supporting the Freight Manager you are responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate movement of multi modal freight, maintaining timely communication with customers and suppliers and ensuring to deliver exceptional levels of customer service at all times. Performing a true 'End to End' solution for your customers, from the initial shipment quote, through to delivery and invoicing
* Managing all aspects of sea / air / trailer import and export shipments
* Monitoring cargo movements and keeping customers updated
* Liaising with customers, carriers, and customs brokers
* Ensuring accurate and timely data entry into our operating system
* Interacting with customers, airlines, hauliers and overseas partners to ensure the completion of each shipment in accordance with the individual customer's requirements
* Creating and maintain accurate records of cargo movements
* Working closely as part of a small team to deliver excellent customer service
* Preparing customs declarations in line with guidelines and submit to HMRC in a timely manner

* Contributing to maintaining strong relationships with all suppliers
* Ensuring accurate and timely responses to all email communication
* Retaining and storing all shipment documentation and correspondence on internal system.
* Ensuring compliance with all legislation on freight movements
* Working closely with internal and external customers
* Focusing on customer service
* Month end invoicing compliance
* Assisting senior forwarders, and Shipping Manager where required
* Ensuring all reports including internal and customer specific are completed
In order to apply you will have
* Multimodal freight forwarding experience from within a freight forwarding company
* Managed or supervised a small freight forwarding team
* The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* A good working knowledge of customs procedures relating to imports and exports
* Letter of credit knowledge is desirable
* Excellent customer service experience
* Experience of arranging the full freight cycle shipment/deliveries, invoicing and all other functions as required.

£38,000 to £45,000
