Our client is a well-established and well-respected freight packing and forwarding company based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. We now have an exciting opportunity for a confident and experienced Freight Forwarding specialist to join the company and help us to continue delivering excellent customer service in all aspects of import and export freight shipping.
Joining as a Deputy Freight Manager supporting the Freight Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate movement of multi-modal freight, maintaining timely communication with customers and suppliers, and ensuring exceptional levels of customer service at all times. Performing a true 'End to End' solution for your customers, from the initial shipment quote through to delivery and invoicing.
Responsibilities:
1. Managing all aspects of sea/air/trailer import and export shipments
2. Monitoring cargo movements and keeping customers updated
3. Liaising with customers, carriers, and customs brokers
4. Ensuring accurate and timely data entry into our operating system
5. Interacting with customers, airlines, hauliers, and overseas partners to ensure the completion of each shipment in accordance with the individual customer's requirements
6. Creating and maintaining accurate records of cargo movements
7. Working closely as part of a small team to deliver excellent customer service
8. Preparing customs declarations in line with guidelines and submitting to HMRC in a timely manner
9. Organising, coordinating, and following up international freight transportation via all modes
10. Contributing to maintaining strong relationships with all suppliers
11. Ensuring accurate and timely responses to all email communication
12. Retaining and storing all shipment documentation and correspondence on the internal system
13. Ensuring compliance with all legislation on freight movements
14. Working closely with internal and external customers
15. Focusing on customer service
16. Month-end invoicing compliance
17. Assisting senior forwarders and the Shipping Manager where required
18. Ensuring all reports, including internal and customer-specific, are completed
Minimum Requirements:
1. Multimodal freight forwarding experience from within a freight forwarding company
2. Managed or supervised a small freight forwarding team
3. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
4. A good working knowledge of customs procedures relating to imports and exports
5. Letter of credit knowledge is desirable
6. Excellent customer service experience
7. Experience of arranging the full freight cycle shipment/deliveries, invoicing, and all other functions as required
Salary & Benefits:
£38,000 to £45,000
