Reporting to the Deputy Chief Digital Information Officer this position will play a pivotal role in the development of high-quality digital services, specifically the development of Network & Telecommunication technologies. This role requires an individual who is driven, ambitious and passionate about patient care, and who has a desire to influence at the highest levels working in close partnership with senior clinical and managerial staff.

Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the Trusts Network & Telecommunications Infrastructure.
2. To lead the development and continual service improvement for the Network & Telecommunications team.
3. Responsible for the design, operational management, implementation, and maintenance of all of the Trusts Network (both wired and wireless) and Telecoms networks, ensuring the integrity of the telephone systems and data networks providing 24 hour, 365 day availability.
4. To provide exemplar technical and professional support on a wide range of information, with a specific focus on Network & Telecommunications infrastructure.
5. Manage the cabling requirements to provide long term resilient infrastructures capable of supporting the joint needs for network and Telecommunications, requiring close liaison with the Trusts Building Services and Facilities team, as well as third party contractors.
6. To support the management and negotiation of contracts with system suppliers.
7. Responsible for workforce planning for the Network & Telecommunications team, ensuring all submissions are accurate and reflect the business plans of the department.
8. Provide advice on the procurement of, and install, manage, maintain and configure the complete range of IT assets used with the Trust in area of expertise.

Essential
* Substantial relevant NHS management experience.
* Substantial knowledge and experience in telecommunications, transmission and signalling systems and significant experience in the management and operation of switchgear and related telephony equipment.
* Substantial knowledge, experience and a thorough understanding of the principles of computer networking to manage the operation, security and integrity of The Trusts telecommunications LANs/WLAN/WAN.
* Technical design skills requiring frequent periods of prolonged and intense concentration when addressing problems or design of highly complex resilient networking solutions.
* Knowledge and experience of tendering procedures and contract negotiation, and the ability to write detailed output based specifications.
* Experience of being responsible for Financial and physical assets, holding and managing budgets, acting as a signatory and authorising purchase of IM& T equipment.
* Ability to communicate in a variety of settings.
* Knowledge of financial/resource management.
* Knowledge of professional and NHS issues.
Desirable
* Post qualification experience.
